Abstract
This study examined utterance and joint attention of twenty-two autistic toddlers depending on their attachment types. The results are that autistic toddlers with secure attachment mode more utterances of joint attention and showed more behaviors of joint attention than autistic toddlers with avoidant insecure attachment. Also, while in the case of autistic toddlers with avoidant insecure attachment no significant correlation found between utterance and joint attention, autistic toddlers with secure attachment showed a negative and positive correlation between utterance and joint attention. This results indicates that a secure attachment with parents could have a positive effect on the abilities of utterance and joint attention of autistic toddlers; whereby, it provides a ground to support the argument that secure attachment with parents could be a favorable protective factor even for autistic toddlers.
